World Vision to host National Prayer Assembly
Child-focused advocacy organization World Vision will host its first National Prayer Assembly on November 9, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum from 8:00am to 11:30am.
The event dubbed “Mahal Ko ang Pilipinas National Prayer Assembly”, will be the largest gathering of World Vision stakeholders and partners, with an expected attendance of 12,000 participants. Gracing the event are President Benigno Simeon Aquino III and newly-appointed Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno.
In partnership with the K4 Philippines Prayer Movement, World Vision hopes that the event will unite people of different faiths and religious denominations to pray for the country and its leaders.
“The National Prayer Assembly is a way of celebrating our anniversary by committing to prayers our national leaders headed by the President. We want to have a transformed Philippines for the sake of Filipino children,” said Rev. Joey Umali, Strategic Engagement Advisor of World Vision.
The program includes prayer intentions for the leaders of different government bureaucracies and departments, non-government organizations (NGOs), overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), r media organizations, the Filipino families, children and youth, and for peace and economic stability of the country.
Also joining the event are various Catholic, Christian and Muslim congregations and leaders, notably former WV Board Chairman Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez D.D.; former sponsored child Bishop Leo P. Alconga of the Philippines for Jesus Movement; Bishop Jonel Milan, D.D., president of K4 Philippines Prayer Movement Bishop Fred Magbanua of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches; and Sheikh Ahmad G. Ampuan of the Ulama League of the Philippines, as well as celebrities Gary Valenciano with other World Vision Celebrity Advocates.
