German-Filipino Business Community Celebrates Mabuhay Germany™ 2015

German and Filipino businesses will hold their much-awaited annual Mabuhay Germany™ at the Bonifacio Global City next month, promising to showcase new and exciting German products, services, and lifestyle experiences.

To be held from Feb. 21 to 22 at the BGC High Street, Mabuhay Germany™ 2015 will once again give Filipinos a taste of German trade and culture.

Now on its seventh year, Mabuhay Germany™ is organized by the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) in cooperation with the German Embassy, Goethe Institut and the German European School Manila to celebrate over 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

More than 30 German companies from various industries will participate as exhibitors, sponsors and suppliers, offering the perfect blend of business, culture and fun-filled family activities in one weekend.

The two-day event will kick off on February 21 at 11:00 AM with an opening ceremony with a marching band depicting a German Karneval, champagne toast at the Brandenburg Gate model. Visitors will also be able to connect with German businesses and find favorable opportunities through a joint forum to be organized and facilitated by the Goethe Institut and German Embassy titled “Tara Na Sa Germany – Learn German and Work in Germany!” followed by the Dual Training forum.

A musical festival will also highlight the first day, starting off with “Wir sind Helden,” a musical performance by DYKO – a German electronica/synthpop duo – with students from the partner schools of Goethe Institut. To make the evening more exciting, The Authority Band will entertain participants who will experience a “Groovy Doovy German Night” from 7:00 PM to 12:00 midnight.

On February 22, organizers have prepared various activities that will be enjoyed by the whole family. To jumpstart the day, a “Run for Schools” will be held with all the families of member companies, featuring 3k, 5k and 10k distances. This will be followed by “Frühschoppen,” a German tradition of sharing an alcoholic drink before midday, in company of the Executive Band providing entertainment.

A sporty afternoon awaits the participants, with a lineup of fun and thrilling games including the German Chamber Bingo, Connect-o-lympics, and the 5th GPCCI Table Soccer Cup. The event will be capped by an awarding ceremony for the winners of the Table Soccer Tournament and Best Booth, as well as an exhibitors’ get-together.

“More than a business and lifestyle exhibit, Mabuhay Germany™ is a celebration of six decades of friendship between Germany and the Philippines. Our strong presence in this country, represented by established companies in different industries, symbolize our unwavering commitment to support Filipinos through commerce and culture,” GPCCI General Manager Nadine Fund states.

The German community in the country is composed mostly of companies and organizations representing automotive, technology, shipping and logistics, airlines and support services, financial services, food, consumer goods, garments and tourism. Member companies are also engaged in major local businesses such as the business process outsourcing (BPO), manufacturing, power generation, and education.
