RUNRIO LAUNCHES…

Posted: 04/28/2017 in Advocacy, LifeStyle, NEWS, RUN, Sports

RUNRIO LAUNCHES THE MOST PREMIERE RUNNING

SERIES IN THE COUNTRY

RUNRIO Trilogy Series 2017 promises to be the most exciting ever

Manila, Philippines – April 28, 2017 – Running coach Rio dela Cruz of RUNRIO Events, Inc. announces the start of this year’s most premier running series in the country – the RUNRIO Trilogy 2017 at the Okada Manila in Paranaque City.

The series is expected to attract an average of 12,000 running enthusiasts per leg from all over the country. The first of the three legs is set for June 25 and features a half-marathon run including 10Km and 5Km race. This will be followed by the second leg on August 13, where it will showcase Rio’s very own Afroman distance which is a 32Km run, with shorter distances – 21Km, 10Km and 5Km. The 32Km is considered by runners as the ideal race for first-timers who aim to finish their very first full marathon.

The third and final leg will cap the series on October 1 with a full marathon of 42Km that also includes 21Km, 10Km, and 5Km race distances. Runners who complete the highest distance of all 3 races will be honored at the RUNRIO Trilogy Awards Night.

The very first RUNRIO Trilogy was held in 2010 with the primary purpose of providing a progressive running program for those who want to finish a full marathon. This year’s RUNRIO Trilogy, will also feature popular actor and running enthusiast, Dingdong Dantes as the event ambassador.

“We are excited to launch the RUNRIO Trilogy race series because there are many running enthusiasts out there who are looking forward to this event. This year marks the 7th year of RUNRIO Trilogy, whose main objective is to educate runners to train and race progressively,” said award-winning actor Dantes. “Aside from this, part of the proceeds of this year’s race series will go to YesPinoy Foundation to support the organization’s philanthropic works” added Dantes.

Dantes is the founding chairman of YesPinoy Foundation.

The announcement of the RUNRIO Trilogy series is part of RUNRIO Events, Inc.’s expansion program that will bring more running activities to the public in the coming months.

Runners can also expect bigger and more exciting races from the country’s premiere running events company as it looks to add more races in its portfolio such as trail running, obstacle runs, just to name a few.

RUNRIO will also be launching its new campaign “Heart to Finish”, which is expected to become the participants’ mantra for all RUNRIO races.

“We at RUNRIO understand that people join races not just to run. It’s more because of their desire and passion to be able to finish their 21k, 32k or 42k races with different motivations. We believe that if you run with your heart, anything is possible” said Coach Rio dela Cruz, President of RUNRIO Events, Inc.

One of the highlights of the media launch was the opening of the online registration while onsite registrations will be open starting May 6, 2017, at Adidas Greenbelt 3, Adidas Trinoma, Adidas Solenad 3, Adidas BGC and Toby’s SM MOA.

“I would like to invite all those who like running to join the RUNRIO Trilogy 2017. This unique running series will definitely provide runners a chance to train and prepare properly and a chance to show how far they can go when they run with their heart,” said Coach Rio dela Cruz, RUNRIO Events, Inc. President.

RUNRIO Trilogy is made possible by Adidas, Gatorade & Okada Manila. Adidas is the official RUNRIO Trilogy apparel. The most awaited race series of the year is also supported by Active Health, Summit Water and Garmin Philippines.

The next level of the campaign, the “Steps to Safety” program, targets children from 9 to 12 years old. From the Junior Driving Course, the CSI will engage children using a virtual reality game app for them to more easily learn, and simultaneously apply, the basics of pedestrian safety. This CSI program will also be guided and facilitated by instructors from the Philippine Global Road Safety Partnership headed by Secretary General Alberto Suansing and Program Director Ma. Theresa Perez.

The 13th MIAS promises to be more than just another auto show, which makes it the ideal venue to showcase Volkswagen’s world-class German craftsmanship, engineering, design, and automotive safety technologies, because for Volkswagen, it is more than just driving—- It’s More Than Just a Car.

Mindanao art student tops 31st PLDT directory art contest

Artemio Bongawan Jr. of the University of Mindanao won the grand prize of the 31st Visual Arts Competition (VAC 31) of the Directories Philippines Corporation and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company.

Bongawan’s hyperrealistic entry "AGEnt of Success", which showed an old woman who dreams of finishing her studies, captured the interest of the judges with its rendering and clear, uplifting message. This year’s competition challenged fine arts students nationwide to interpret the theme “Habang May Buhay, May Pag-asa”.

"I wanted to show that as long as you have hope and you persevere, nothing comes too late. Age doesn’t matter when it comes to aspiring for success," Bongawan explained.

Meanwhile, John Merick Eupalao of Adventist University of the Philippines of Cavite and Maria Teresa Ramos of Far Eastern University won second and third prizes, respectively. Eupalao won for his colorful acrylic on canvas painting entitled “Pag May Pagmamahal, May Pag-asa , while Ramos won for her painting entitled “Light of Hope”. FEU has been the winningest university through the years in the directory art competition.

Besides the top three winners, Arvin Cantalejo Jr.’s Reflection of Hope, a disabled man who paints himself as a whole person, won the People’s Choice Award. The winning entries will be used for the 2017-18 White and Yellow Pages PLDT directories.

87 art works with different interpretations of the theme were submitted for the competition, with 30 entries moving up as finalists. The 30 finalist entries were exhibited at the Pasilyo Vicente Manansala at the Cultural Center of the Philippines prior to the final judging and awarding ceremony.

The final judging of VAC31 was held Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Main Lobby of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City.

Entries were judged on the basis of visual composition, originality, adherence to the theme, overall impact and suitability as cover.

Ding Villamayor, traditional artist and former Art Director at McCann Erickson; Jaime "Jim" Battad, Creative Director at PublicisJimenezBasic and Grand Prize Winner of the 2nd DPC-PLDT Visual Arts Competition in 1988; Ma. Rosario "Rica" Estrada of the CCP’s Visual Arts and Museum Division; Robert Alejandro, former host of TV art show Art is Kool, painter, award-winning graphic artist, crafter and one of the pillars of Filipino arts and crafts shop, Papemelroti; and James "Bong" Baual, Tape Art Pioneer in the Philippines and singer-songwriter of Filipino indie band Dystoria made up the panel of judges.

VAC 31 is an annual arts competition for student artists in the Philippines organized by DPC and PLDT. The competition has explored various art forms and media during its three-decade old history. Last year the competition deviated from painting entries to photographic images.

“ Strengthening Cyber Security Towards a Safer Cyber Space “

National Summit on Cybercrime

March 21-22,2017, PNP Multi-Purpose Hall Center, Camp Crame, Quezon City

“ Securing the Nation’s Digital Transformation to eCommerse “

Guest of Honor, PNP Director General Ronald M. Dela Rosa . . .

The Philippines, like any other country around the world, is increasingly adopting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in its economic, government and social activities.

The dependence on ICT however, makes us vulnerable to different forms of security threats such as malwares, botnets, denial of service attacks, phishing and other types of identity theft, computer-related forgery and fraud, child pornography, copyright infringements and cyber terrorism.

In response to the mounting threats on the country’s cyber space and critical infrastructures, the country needs to strengthen its legal framework, international cooperation, public and private partnership, advocacy and public awareness.

Director of ACG PSSupt. Marni C. Marcos, Jr.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) through its current Chief, PNP  and in line with the PNP’s strategic thrust, saw a need to enhance the organization’s capabilities and capacities in addressing cybercrime that paved the way for the creation of the PNP Anti Cybercrime Group (ACG).

The PNP ACG started its humble beginnings when the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) formed in 2003 under the Anti-Transnational Crime Division (ATCD) the Cybercrime Section where it started without computers, computer forensic equipment, trained cyber investigator, digital forensic examiner or cyber forensic laboratory.

In order for the PNP to establish a credible cybercrime unit within CIDG, it conducted consultations and networking with various international law enforcement agencies, ICT industries, the academes and other stakeholders.

ISOG Speaker Manuel Joey Regala, set things on how they can be of service to the PNP ACG, it’s a civilian organization that helps us on how to deal with fraud.

In line with the program of the Task Force for the Security of Critical Infrastructures (TFSCI) under the Office of the President of the Philippines, the Government Computer Security Incident Response Team (GCSIRT) was launched on August 5, 2004. GCSIRT through the Anti-Transnational Crime Division of CIDG, became the focal point for reporting all internet-related security breaches and coordinated support systems to respond to such threats across all government agencies.

Moreover, a cyber training laboratory was established on December 9, 2011 to conduct specialized technical training to CIDG police personnel.

Finally, on February 27, 2013 the PNP-Anti Cybercrime Group with official acronym “PNP ACG”, was activated as a National Operational Support Unit primarily responsible for the implementation of pertinent Philippine laws on cybercrimes and advocating the anti-cybercrime campaign of the PNP.

According to the Data Privacy Act of 2012, it is the policy of the State “to protect the fundamental human right of privacy of communication while ensuring free flow of information to promote innovation and growth.”
